Michael went out with our Bishop last night, just the two of them, to visit a boy who lives fairly close to us. His name is Parker and he is really cute! He just turned 12 and he and his mom are on our Ward list buy have never come to church. They are also in the military. Parker was on Michael's soccer team last year and we see them quite a bit if we are out walking and they are just a nice, nice family. Anyway, it would be a really nice friend for Michael to have in Young Men's since he about the only Deacon who is there on a regular basis and his friend, Andrew, who is 15 or so is moving this week and Andrew was the next person in age to Michael. Anyway, they had their appt made and he picked Michael up at about 7:00 pm. When they weren't home at 8:30 we were thinking well, they must be having the most awesome visit. When he got home, he was holding a Sonic ice cream cup (fast food) and I was confused, but it turns out Parker and his family were not home - blew off the appt so our Bishop took Michael and picked up another 12 yr old boy and they went and got ice cream instead. Bishop told Michael that you don't give up when someone isn't home, but you ponder it over ice cream! The other boy, James, was excited because his home teachers were there and he got to leave. Hmmmmm.... going out for ice cream or a visit with the home teachers ... obviously ice cream trumps all!
